SignalGround

Intelligence about the radio spectrum at a specific place, built from the public federal licensing record.

The problem it solves

Radio spectrum is crowded, legally governed and invisible. An organization planning a private wireless network, a public safety upgrade, a rail corridor or a campus deployment is making decisions about a resource it cannot see and does not control. The authoritative record of who may transmit what, where, is public, but it is spread across federal databases that are large, inconsistent and hostile to casual inspection.

SignalGround reads that record and answers the question directly.

What it tells you

  • What is licensed to transmit near a given address or coordinate, and on what frequencies
  • Who holds each license, its status, and when it expires
  • Where usable white space exists
  • How spectrum in a market has been allocated, and by whom
  • How a licensing picture has changed over time

Where the data comes from

Analysis derives from authoritative public federal licensing records. Terrain and mapping context come from published public sources. Everything is attributed in the interface, so you can see what a figure rests on. Where a value is estimated rather than recorded, it is labeled as an estimate.

How it is delivered

SignalGround is a cloud application running on Microsoft Azure, available through Microsoft Azure Marketplace. For many agencies that is an existing procurement vehicle, which removes a step from buying it.

What it is not

SignalGround is decision support. It is not a substitute for a licensed professional engineer's site survey, nor for legal advice, nor for a formal regulatory filing. We say so in the product, and we say so here.
